Unhappy my cresteds won't make babies!

I have always loved crested geckos. I have a beautiful group consisting of 2.3.1 geckos. I picked unusual colours and patterns so They would maybe produce something unique. My problem is they aren't producing and I don't know why. The two males are kept of course in separate enclosures. I'd really appreciate some advice. Thanks!

I don't know what to say, I think everyone needs a little more info about their enclosure, temperature, humidity, and age.

I agree...more info would be needed...

Sometimes the only way to STOP breeding is to lower temps into the 60's....

I keep them at about 73degress(room temp). They eat a healthy crestie diet of crickets(calcium dusted twice a week) a little chicken/banana baby food. They have lots of foliage and cork bark to climb on and hide under. Should I be keeping them at a higher temp?

1. Not enough calcium. Crickets should be dusted every time, which leads me to the next thing.

2. You say nothing of vitamin supplementation, which is something I feel is important. I dust their crickets with Miner-All, which contains vitamins, minerals and calcium. I also mix Gargoyle or Leachianus Diet and Miner-All into their baby food.

3. You're keeping them too cold. I give mine a warm spot of 80 degrees. When kept in the low 70's, I rarely get eggs.

4. You didn't mention how much you're feeding them. It may be that you aren't feeding them enough. Be aware, though, with crickets, you only want to feed them as many as they'll eat in one sitting. If there are crickets left when they quit eating, that may be stressful to the geckos.

The calcium powder I mentioned is also a multi vitamine. I also use minor-all. I will turn up the heat though. I have a heat lamp. Should I use a 60watt bulb?

Actually, Miner-All doesn't contain vitamins, other than Vit D3 in Miner-All I.

FAQ at Miner-All Homepage

Q. Why aren’t vitamins included in the MINER-ALL products?

A. Vitamin D-3 is included in the MINER-ALL I product, but no other vitamins are added. Nutritionists have learned that Vitamins and Minerals should not be mixed together in a liquid or powder form. These nutrients degrade each other when combined. Normally vitamin companies pack vitamins and minerals either separately or in conjunction with fillers that help to separate them. Even with this precaution there is some degradation of components. We use a specially stabilized form of D-3 in our products and it will remain nutritionally active for a long time if stored correctly in a cool dry place.

You'll still have to add vitamins from another source. If you're using Miner-All I (Indoor), make sure your vitamin formualtion doesn't contain any D3.

Woops. I actually meant to say that there are vitamins in the gargoyle diet, but I got everything all out of whack. I buy minerall by the case and the Gargoyle and Leachie diet by the 2.5lb container, so you'd think I would've gotten that straight. lol
