Motorcycle season, but no go..
..And it's starting to get irritating. I've done the regular maintenance for both my bikes. New batteries, oil, filters, coolant, plugs. The CBR started up fine, but my other bike won't kick over.
All it does is sputter. The gas is new, and I know something is happening because I'm getting oil onto my floor when I try to start it. (Left the filter loose, was told to do this because someone mentioned my starter may be out.).. Any help would be great.
..I posted here because the bike forums are fool of jackasses and slow.

Does it fire once or twice then die?
If so you timing maybe off

Evaporation residue in the fuel lines?
I know mine needs a good cleaning. It went over in a windstorm last week too  Broke the right turn signal. Argh.

hi i hope i can help
remove the spark plug hook it back up to the wire and place the spark plug close to the engine or frame. Then turn the engine over and see if you have spark at the plug
if you have spark then put the plug back in. if you do not have spark the you will have to check the coil pack.
if you have spark, then you have to check for fuel. make sure your fuel is turned on if it is turn it off pull off the line and blow into it to make sure you have no block in the line. you should be able to blow though the tube. if that is ok then you will have to do a compression test on the cylinders.

So uh.. Is this the coil? Just making sure before I rip out anymore stuff from the bike. I did find the radiator cap I was looking for.. heh and the original key to the bike.. Im actually having fun working on this bike.. To bad Im illiterate, I might actually get somewhere..
I found this water/gas liquidy, hard stuff to get to to clean up stuff in my air filter box majig. I'm going to guess this is not surpose to be here. By the way, the fuel lines are clean and run clear of any kinks or knots. Thanks again for all the help.

dont play with the coil till you check if you have spark take the spark plug out put the plug clip back on the plug and lay it against the head and turn over the bike if you see spark jump on the plug your set dont touch the coil.
If you have spark i would assume that you have that crap that was on the inside of the air cleaner clogging your carb if I understood what you were talking about your air filter should have oil on it to help it catch dust but after awhile they start to rot and turn to mush.
If you have spark I would pull a part the carb and clean it

I did that this morning before work and It looked as if I got no spark. Though Im glad I had to work or I would have done more work than possibly needed. Since its dark I checked it again and yeah. There's a spark. I took the Air filter out, and I cleaned the air cleaner. Dried it up so Im hoping tomorrow it'll start up.
It's a tad cool tonight so I will wait til tomorrow..
Are there any other ideas that may cause this?
