I just introduced my males to my females, the first pair was a success. The male tracked her down and grasped her neck and mounted her. In the other pair the male was getting really rough with the female and she fought him off and he backed down, I was getting a little worried. I know the male has to win over the female but is rough mating normal, or should I seperate them?
A bit rough is fairly normal but if either one gets hurt, it's not quite right. Chances are she wasn't receptive and had to fight him off. Keep them separate for about a week and try again.
