What experience do you have? They are (for the most part) very similar to corn snakes as far as requirements. Fairly simple.

From what I have seen, heard and from my own snakes...kings are a bit more of a handful as far as temperament. They will calm down with persistent handling sessions but they can be little jerks sometimes too. My king would musk when ever I held him and he hisses and rattles his tail at me all the time.

If you really like a particular king snake, I wouldn't let temperament hold you back from owning one...but if you are looking for a friendly snake, I'd lean more towards a corn snake or a ball python.

Country:
MOST kings as adults do have great temperaments, but most as babies, especially the getulas, musk like hell.

I'd have to agree with Andy, Getulas seem to be little more tempermental (mine anyway) than other kings as neonates. If you want a baby of a snake in a King, try a Pyro!! Never had ANY problems with mine, I haven't heard of anyone else having problems either. Great colors too!!!
