hi all! i was just wondering if anyone could tell me about their experience with kings, u know, temperament, heating requirements, feeding etc...... i am thinking of getting a couple u see. thanx in advance
(p.s. temperament is the thing i am most concerned about because i cant find much info on that )
What experience do you have? They are (for the most part) very similar to corn snakes as far as requirements. Fairly simple.
From what I have seen, heard and from my own snakes...kings are a bit more of a handful as far as temperament. They will calm down with persistent handling sessions but they can be little jerks sometimes too. My king would musk when ever I held him and he hisses and rattles his tail at me all the time.
If you really like a particular king snake, I wouldn't let temperament hold you back from owning one...but if you are looking for a friendly snake, I'd lean more towards a corn snake or a ball python.

I'd have to agree with Andy, Getulas seem to be little more tempermental (mine anyway) than other kings as neonates. If you want a baby of a snake in a King, try a Pyro!! Never had ANY problems with mine, I haven't heard of anyone else having problems either. Great colors too!!!
