my royal python escaped from her cage sometime today and i just found her damn near frozen to death. she is very lathargic right now. when she flickers her tongue it's in very slow motion. i need help. i don't know what the best way to warm her up is. right now i have her against my stomach under my shirt trying to warm her up. also, how long does it take to notice a ri?

Put her back in her enclosure. If your really worried about her warming too fast, then turn her heat down a little, then gradually increase it.

put her back on her warm side. Again, I wonder how you can have a website where you are telling people how to raise their animals (herps) when the last 3 posts (including this one) would indicate to me that you didn't do any research yourself before aquiring your own herps... I think you should look up more care sheets on the 'Net' and some FAQ pages as wel. it will help you out alot!

I don't want this to come off as a personal attack, I am just concerned and want what is best fro your pets, as do you I am sure

Put her back into the enclosure and turn the heat up, keeping her on your belly will only make her more stressed out.

Their site is about leopard geckos, and boa's not BP's. I've had my own bp for a little over three years, and I still ask questions. There is a first time for everything and when that first time happens you have questions...I know I did, But I didn't have people thats as nice as the people here to answer them....
Now please don't think this is a personal attack.........I'm just saying my opinon.......

Sheldon_&_Tori: When something of the same happened to my bp, he was worse than yours. He didn't even flicker his tounge. I thought he was dead. I filled a sink with warm water (like you might bathe a baby in) and gently submerged his body, all buy his head while massaging his body. After a few minutes I took him out, he had started flicking his tounge, his body was warmer to the touch, I put him on his warm side in his hide and put a wash cloth over the entrance of his towl to keep it dark in there.

I don't know if it was the right thing to do. But he is fine now and has grown about 2ft since then.

I've had to deal with a frozen escaped snake before, and like sapphire moon suggested, draw up a luke warm bath and soak your snake.
this soaking must be supervised as most snakes that are "frozen" cant compose themselves very well.
Im not sure how frozen he is/was, but there dorsal area is usually the last thing to unfreeze.
mine ended up going through some sort of shock while being revived and eventually stabalized itself. It wasn't able to keep its head above the water and it couldn't upright itself.
it took a 1/2-hour in the tub with some gentle massage tyo get the blood moving.
and like the rest said, put it back in its enclosure and check on it later.

thnx sapphire_moon, i just want everyone to know that last night she was doing ok, moving around the cage like nothing ever happened. lol! i thought i had figured out how she escaped but when i came home from work tonight i checked the cage and the little bugger was gone again. i found her yet again (this time inside a climbing structure i had built out of tubes for my big boa but took out), she wasn't as cold as last time so i put her in her house (the one on the UTH) and let her warm up. I found another spot that i thought she might have got out from and fixed that so now i'm just giving her some time and then i'll go check on her again in a little bit.

it took a lot of watching in the dark but i finally figured out how she was doing it! she was pushing a corner of the plexiglass out of the way and sliding out through the little hole. when i built the cage i had to pull pretty hard on it to get it to come out enough for her to get out and figured that at her size she couldn't do it. but guess what, i was wrong! lol, i temporarily solved the problem by placing a 10 gallon aquarium in front of that corner. and no escapes since the last one! well except after feeding today when my big boa was in the smaller aquarium (it's his feeding tank) but i caught her right away.

so how long does it take to notice a respitory infection?
