hides for larger snakes-seeking opinions

so, I have the tallest cage apparently ever for my boy. Eh, I built it, he likes it.

However, I am curious about providing him a hide.

1. should I bother? He spends 90% up in the tree.

2. material?

3. did anyone else build it themselves and realize they probably should have just saved up the money to purchase something really nice?

4x4x2 redwood frame, plexi front, melamine walls and floor, floor with cut out for tub, grape tree (approx 3.5 ft tall), newspaper substrate, rope lighting on the inside, spotlight for heat on top

1.0 columbian red tail, approx 4-5 years old.

thanks so much for your time.

Use a big rubbermaid storage container or similar, either upside down without the lid or right side up with lid...easy to clean

Yes for sure give him a hide. As for what to use I just use the tall rubbermaid tub and cut a hole out of it. And make sure to take off the sharp edges so that he will not hurt him self on them. Or you could just build him one
