Mexican Night Snake "PIC"

Here is one of the Mexican Night Snakes which I just received from Chris Lane, out in New Brunswick.

Thanks for the great snakes, Chris!

Simon you're a lucky man! I've held those very snakes and fell in love with them and wanted them but...you can't have everything. I'm glad you got them.
Congrats,
Trevor

Yes, Elaphe flavirufa are somewhat diabolical-looking aren't they?
They are actually very mellow and good-natured. A really neat species.

I'm impressed, but when I see "night snake" I think Hypsiglena torquata, not Elaphe flavirufa -- I always thought of the latter as Central American/Mexican rat/corn snakes.

Ahhhhhhhhhh, the joy of common names.

Simon, I remember seeing those years ago before anyone had bred them in captivity. Best of luck with them, see you Sunday?

Thanks, Jonathan! I know what you mean, but to me, they are very un-ratsnake-like. They have a very wide, flat head, a fairly slender build and a very long tail in comparison to most American "Elaphe" or "Pantherophis" as they're now called, apparently. I believe that the generic name "Pseudelaphe" has been proposed for "flavirufa".
Whatever they are, they are really interesting.
I've kept "Hypsiglena", too.

Hi Scotty;
Yes, we'll be there - Black coffee and a plain bagel, right? lol!

Cheers!

Simon
