747 Cargo temps

I shipped cargo with a foreign airline and two of my reptiles died. They would not take any responsibility saying that I signed a waiver and also the air temp for the live cargohold is 7-15C. 7 C is very cold. I wonder how a puppy can take that?

Does anyone know any info about cargohold temps for 747s? I don't believe the front office person of the airline. I think they goofed up and did not heat the cargohold.

Cheers,
JJ

It varies. Some heat them their plane bellies, some don't. If that's the answer they gave you, then that's the situation. Did they say they were going to heat it when (if) you inquired before? What did the waiver say? The only thing you should be signing are insurance forms and the like... not disclaimers that waives them of responsibility.

7C is fine. If they guaranteed that temperature, I'd be MORE than happy to ship ANY reptile and I would sleep a lot easier at night.

You DO know that you still have to use heat packs and gel packs when shipping in the summer, don't you?

7-15c if fine, it won't kill a reptile, how ever if the hold wasn't presurized that could cause issues.
