Ok I am worried my baby leo Amazon just ate a large cricket that accidentally fell in its cage! I thought for sure he was going to choke but he got it down. How worried should I be and what can I do if something goes wrong with him (impaction)? is there anything? I am soo scared. I don't want to lose my baby to something like this.
It'll be okay. The worst part (getting it down) is over. Just keep the warm end warm and she will digest it fine Be sure that she has plenty of water, it'll help her digest such a large item.
Anything can cause impactation, but if you keep the gecko warm enough it should digest the cricket without complications. In case you suspect the gecko may have a problem...( Not eating, not deficating, bloated stomach, lethargy, etc.) take it to a vet. Don't worry too much and make sure the gecko has plenty of water... let us know how it does! Good Luck!
Tim & Julie - Sorry I didn't read your post! LOL Follow their advice and keep us updated! By the way - it's good that you are observant and so concerned about your gecko, all too often we hear of or see animals that don't get the devotion yours does... Keep up the good work!
