Help
Hello
I need to feed my snake tonight and I was wondering if it is ok to feed two mice at the same time. I cannot find it in me to feed rats and the mice just arent cutting it anymore
Thanks

if by at the same time you mean, one at a time... Sure.. But it really would be best for you to get your bp switched over to rats.. How big is your BP?? Good luck..

You should really switch over to rats, they are better for the snake. And in the long run it will be less expensive than buying all those mice. Now you can feed 2 mice if you feed it one, wait for it to take it all down, and let him readjust his jaw, then go ahead and give him the next one. I have done that. But I just switched over to rats, tons easier, and more nutritional.

I don't want to come across as being rude, but did you not research your BP before you bought it and learn that they do eat rats? They grow to a size where they can take adult rats. Its really not in your snakes best interest to purposely keep it on mice its whole life... by feeding 5 mice per feeding instead of one rat your snake ends up with a lot more byproducts, and its jsut generally a better idea to stick to one or two suitably sized items. Balls can be picky, the longer you keep them on mice the harder it is to switch them over to rats as well Again, I do not mean to come across roughly... if I did it was not my intent

She's right. I have a ball that would probably eat a "hot" piece of celary stick if he seen it swinging by his nose. But the other still has to eat. They can be tricky eaters. The sooner you can switch to rats the better!

Why can you not find it in yourself to feed it rats? Switching can be done, it just may take a few tries. Start by feeding an appropriate size mouse, right after he swallows that, give him/her the appropriate sized rat. Do that a couple of times and in a few weeks the snake should take the rat without needing the mouse as a starter.

Chondro we see this stuff all the time. Even though it does get repeditive (sp) it's something we either deal with or don't say anything to the person. We are here to educate people not put them down. Our responses shouldn't be "then you shouldn't have the snake or lizard" We should try to rephrase and say something like "this is something that is required for keepers to do" or something along those lines. This hobby already has enough negative things said from people who don't keep herps we don't need to discourge more people. I know we all get in those moods i'm even guilty about it but we need to stop and think "did we know all the answers" i still remember thumping my first pinkie mouse i thought i was the meanest person in the world but now i'm over that.
Sorry for stepping in.
