Talking Even more tiny eggs!

I caught this little girl digging in the corner of the terrarium tonight!

And when she walked away... this is what I found! WWWEEEEE!

I'm already incubating 3 R.brevicaudatus eggs that were laid on May 15, so I put these new ones into the same container. The top row of eggs are ones deposited tonight and that middle row are the ones that are about a month old! Holy cow have those grown! I can hardly wait for that first clutch to hatch now! I'm counting down the days until July 15th!

Thanks for looking!

Trace

Kate: I'm not sure... I can't count that high! :/ Actually I'm only at 21 chameleons today, but you know that can change fairly quickly around here. I'm also sitting on (not literally, of course) 40 Veiled eggs, 21 Panther eggs and 5 Pygmy eggs.

Collide: This particular female didn't look any larger than she normally did before she laid these eggs. And now that the eggs are deposited, she doesn't look any skinnier. That also goes for a different female that deposited the 3 eggs last month. They did not sport any different colours to signal to the male that they were gravid either. I also have 2 other females that look quite chubby, so I suspect that they are gravid as well, but I can not feel any eggs on palpation at this point. So beyond getting them Xrayed, you probably aren't going to be able to tell by eye if they are gravid or not. Make sure your husbandry is correct and nature should take it's course in your set-up. If you miss the females actually laying, the eggs can be incubated inside the aquarium and you will get the same hatch rate as incubating them outside the tank. Just keep your eyes pealed for any tiny babies roaming around! Click here for a good caresheet on R. brevicaudatus.

Cheers!

Trace

LMAO! I hear ya! I have a 1.4 group and sometimes it takes me upwards of 5 minutes to find them all! And they aren't in a huge tank! It was just my persistence in trying to find that female last night that I discovered her laying eggs. She was in the far corner under a pile of moss. :/

Hopefully your little girls are gravid... keep me posted about that. Did that caresheet help you out in any way?

Cheers!

Yea I go to adcham regularly when i have Qs, I did notice that one of my females looked smaller today (could be my imagination) I scowered the ground for signs of digging but no luck. Thanks for you help. I have a pic of my male below. The femals have been very unco-opertave in being photographed LOL.
