UTH not strong

I bought a 16W Exo-Terra Heat Wave UTH and stuck it onto the outside of the bottom of one end. It's been on for around 6 hours and seems to have levelled off at 78*F (inside the sand substrate at the warm end). It's 62*F at the cold end. I also have a 50W heat bulb. I want to get the warm end up higher, should I exchange the UTH for a different brand or is this a normal temperature for a UTH? Any suggestions?

Martin

I would just up the watt on the light. It also depends what type of snake you have in there. Colubrid, prolly don't even need a light. Boid, you need more heat for, and can up the wattage of the bulb. Cheaper than another UTH.

I don't think they have snakes on it. Since it's writen in the leopard gecko fourm. But ya I agree up the watt of the bulb.

Also your substrate might be too deep over the pad.

Sometimes they take a while to warm up. Keep watching your temps.

I switched from a 50W bulb to a 150W bulb and the temperature is around 88-90*F
