Snake in the grass

Argyle the hypo Brooks likes his plastic grass

The grass was purchased on a whim. Thought he'd like it, but instead he LOVES it. It's taken him a while to settle into his new digs, but finally this week he is out & about more. Which is a shame in a way, since I've got more work to do on it. He's not the most trusting guy & will not doubt go into hiding again for a while after I rearrange & revise his furnishings. He'll have a lot more climbing area soon & once he adjusts, again, I think he'll really like it.

Re: Snake in the grass

So over the last few days he's been doing a good bit of what I think of as spy hopping. I'll look over and see his little head sticking up over the frame of the sliding glass. Today he's "standing" up taller & seems to be staring at me.

He's got his eye on me:

Since he seems to do this primarily where the two panes of glass overlap, I think he's probably more interested in the scents coming through than the sights.

Re: Snake in the grass

Yes, it is. Only have 2 of them, each maybe 10 inches square. So he's got a little less than 2 sq feet of grass. Just thought it would adds some interest for him. It seems to wash well, but if he starts pooping in it that could be a hassle.

ETA: The base of the mats is a kind of plastic grid structure. At some point he will be big enough in girth that I'd worry he could get stuck in it if he tried to slither through the holes in the grid. He's not that big yet & the grid is resting on the floor of the cage to it's very unlikely he'd try that. Still, it would be something to think about for snakes bigger than him.
