Morph Query

Hi all,
I'm new on here, I've had snakes for a while but got my first boa a few weeks ago.
I just wanted a pet so I got one I liked the look of and wasn't particularly bothered about the Morph.
I just was looking for some clarification as on his docs it says "sibling Cross sunset het kahl".
I am not vastly knowledgeable but I get what kahl and sunset are but don't really understand the other part.
I have searched but can't find any info.
He is similar markings to a "Normal" bci but greyer.
I can't send pics atm
Any feedback would be appreciated
Cheers

Re: Morph Query

The sibling part means that he isn't a sunset himself, but is a sibling to sunsets. Which is just indicating his Hog Island blood, but he lacks the (super) hypo part that would make him a sunset. At least that's what I would assume, I'm not all that interested in sunsets so haven't looked into them too much. That's basically how I see it used in carpet pythons, though.

Re: Morph Query

Thanks for the reply,
Ok that makes sense, so he is basically a hog island cross?
Just trying to get an idea of size as if he's a cross I'm guessing he should get slightly bigger than hogg island.

Re: Morph Query

All sunsets are crosses, so if he was born in a sunset litter he would have to be a cross as well. If I'm not mistaken sunsets are super hypos x Hog Islands.

Hog Islands don't really get all that much smaller than Colombians (from what I've seen it's about the same), so I'd expect him to get about average size; 5'-6', potentially 7'. Best way to make a haphazard guess is ask for the parents' sizes, but any one offspring could get bigger than either parent so I wouldn't take the parent sizes as a guarantee.

Both parents should be crosses as well to make sunsets if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Morph Query

Ok thanks for the info, Yeh I read up yesterday aswell and for sunset you cross hypo and hog island. Then the offspring of that parentage are crossed and that's the sunset, so he's either from the first generation or second but either way hes got a really good temperament and nice markings so I'm happy. I was just curious, I'll email the breeder and ask about parentage as you say and that will shed some light too. Obviously Should have checked all this with the breeder before ha, ah well you live and learn.
Thanks for all the information and the quick reply
Cheers, Tom

Re: Morph Query

Sunsets are the super hypo hog crosses, "het" sunsets or hypo hogs (synonymous, albeit a mislabel IMO) are the hypos, and all others would be labelled as a common bci x hog island.
