Hi
Any idea what boa morphs I would get from crossing. A hypo het leopard x motley het albino

Hypos, hypo motleys, normals and motleys all 50% poss het for leopard and/or albino. In other words, half of the babies SHOULD be het for either albino (sunglow if hypo) or leopard OR both albino and leopard, but there's no way to tell which would be het and which would not. The thing about producing possible hets like this is that maybe even NONE of the babies are het for anything hidden, but the odds would suggest that about half are het for one, the other, or both. Quite a mess of genes there, actually, with not a ton of payoff...too many "mysteries" being produced IMO.

I agree with Andy, definitely not worth the breeding. If you wanted leopards and albinos, I'd really make sure either one was a visual for the trait or both were hets. Either one can have hypo or motley and you can make those, but any recessives it's probably best to make sure both parents at least carry the gene. Also don't do motley x motley pairings the homozygous form results in sickly babies whether CA or Colombian, the relative longevity of the CA motleys (possibly living 6-8 years as opposed to 1-2 years) honestly doesn't make them any more desirable imho and any super motley pairings are immoral. They are obviously unhealthy and still don't live to their full potential. Super hypos are fine, but you won't know if you've got a super unless you breed it.

i was just wondering,id asked a about a hypo leopard, but they had sold all the females and only had hypo het for leopard left.

i had read about about the poor super motleys not living very long so dont worry i wont be doing that, poor things

It depends on what you are trying to produce. If you are trying to make motleys and hypos than this is a good pairing. But if you are trying to create leopard and albino hets my fellow members are correct. Are there no markers for boa genes?

There are, but if the markers worked out 100% of the time they wouldn't really be considered recessive...or at least there couldn't be "poss" hets in those cases.

The strongest markers actually are in het leopards. Tends to be many abberancies and a certain look...but not all of the hets have it and the more genes you throw into the mix sometimes the harder it is to spot those markers.
