Re: Mercy Moo

She's looking great Klaire. I love her colors. Is she a julatten jungle? I can't remember. I really like pictures 1 and 4.

Re: Mercy Moo

Very pretty, love the pattern on the head. They do grow fast, my jungle/cross has gone from a wee baby to several feet long in just over a year. Makes me appreciate his/her calm disposition even more, lol.

Re: Mercy Moo

Thankyou . Oh wow! yes it definitely would make me appreciate their kind temperament more so. Mercy is tame now but when she was younger she would nip alot and i thought it was cute but it wont be so cute when she's full grown hahaha

Re: Mercy Moo

Our little IJ female (?, had a bit of pink nail polish on her when I found her at a show, so...) was very defensive at first. Struck at anything that moved, and even as a hatchling she actually drew one tiny drop of blood. Calmed down considerably now, and seems to have gotten over the bitey disposition. I've heard that some never do become tame or even handleable, not something I'd like to deal with in a large adult carpet python. They do have some relatively long teeth, though not as bad as the tree boas.

Re: Mercy Moo

Carpets are on the wish list. Photos like this don't help with the desire!! Lovely snake.

Did you say you weren't allowed boas where you are? Is that a Queensland thing or a local ruling?

Re: Mercy Moo

@danny please do get one if/when you can, they are beautiful snakes as you can see and I enjoy every moment of being an owner to a jullatten jungle when I wanted a snake I went through all the types and as soon as I came across carpets I instantly fell in love!. Unfortunately it's not just a local ruling it's a Queensland thing they are such right arses due to being afraid our wildlife will perish if certain animals where aloud to be kept here and then let loose etc etc Really sucks because apart from carpets as soon as I came across Boas it was the same feeling I just wanted one! Haha

Re: Mercy Moo

I love boas - the head shape, body time, markings etc of a really nice BCI or BCC I think make it one of the Kings of snakes. My dream has always been to have one and I somewhat went against the purchasing clerk's wishes but just going out and getting one. I'm hoping my wife will grow with the snake so to speak and learn to appreciate her.

I assume carpets are ok with the powers that be because they're native to the region?

Re: Mercy Moo

Considering the damage caused by cane toads, jack rabbits, and a few other invasive species I can certainly understand Queensland's concern about boas, though I doubt they'd become as much of a problem as some other critters if they did become established. Worst thing about boas being kept as pets is that it's not a question of IF but rather WHEN they would end up escaping or being released into the wild...

Re: Mercy Moo

@danny everything you said i'm the same i love the shape of the head etc etc. Until you happen to find yourself being a carpet owner your more than welcome to live vicariously through me on mercy's thread, you can find it in the morelia spilota forum it's just a thread thats all about her and updated photos of her every now and then

@toddnbecka I agree i can understand where they are coming from it just sucks because Queenslands large list of prohibited animals has kept me from owning alot of different kinds of animals that i have wanted to own in the past. And your correct about the When not If question however once again irresponsible owners ruin it for everyone. Only the responsible people would make sure to the best of their ability that their snake had a proper enclosed cage and that if they could no longer care for it that they would find a suitable home for it instead of opting for the easiest/laziest option and releasing it.

Re: Mercy Moo

Thanks Klaire

As you may have seen on the acquisitions thread I have just put a deposit down on a stunning Eyed Lizard so for now we will have to live our snake dreams via each others respective threads.

I'll be sure to post plenty of pictures of Rachel as she grows...
