I came across this and found it fascinating. This little guy is actually digging! You hear often on nature shows about how snakes take over other animal holes, but you never hear of them digging a hole.
WOW! That is the first video I have ever seen that proves that snakes do more than find and occupy existing holes. Very interesting!
There are many species that don't rely on other animals to dig for them. Certain species of snakes are almost entirely fossorial like Kenyan Sand boas. The hose shape of hognoses are a great adaptation for digging.
