Albino Black Racer

Hello everyone,
I was able to catch a baby albino black racer on my patio and I'm paying a vet student fifty dollars for it, as I know little about snakes and they would be able to take far better care of it than I ever could.

I was just wondering what the average price is for these little guys and if I'm getting ripped off. Apparently they're pretty valuable.

Thanks!

Re: Albino Black Racer

There is very little market for Racers, they are not popular in the trade like Corns or Kings. I've seen Racers sold for as low as ten bucks and as high as seventy five. A hobbyist who happens to be particularly interested in Racer morphs might be willing to pay more but fifty dollars sounds more than fair for it to go to a good home. You happen to have pictures of the little guy? I'd love to see them if you do.

I'm not sure that I've ever seen an albino black racer. Certainly as an albino, it's worth at least $50.

Fitting user name you have there.

I'd say an albino racer would be worth at least $50 to someone who wanted an albino racer. I'd like to see racers get more attention with collectors. Their care is probably a little more difficult than most north american colubrids, but I think they'd be a cool display snake, if given enough room.
