Someone is trying to login on my account

I just wanted to let everyone know I keep getting emails that someone has attempted to get into my account but failed. If they ever do figure my password out and start causing drama or whatever they want with my account. It's not me haha

It's not just you. The forum has been targeted by spammers and hackers for a while now.

I've gotten a couple of these too... but why on earth would anyone want to hack a snake discussion forum?? Have we offended Anonymous somehow??

Have a good password.

They most likely just go through the members list and try to login using simple passwords like:

12345
password1

That type of thing. If they fail they move on. Once in awhile they get one and then send a mass message to everyone with a link to sell something.

Happens on most forums at one point or another. Doesn't matter what it's about. It's just a different way of sending junk messages like pop ads or emails . This is just a new way of doing it. Most people have email filters set high enough to avoid being spammed and pop blockers eliminate that. Forums don't have that kind of security against spam messages.

Also, remember that the entire reptile nation is under a microscope now with the Lacey Act legislation. There are a lot of spies out here trying to gather information.

I've seen it happen on fish, snowmobile, electronic and car forums. It's not exclusive to this site. It's just the current target. Hack the accounts they can and move on.
