I was reading on ZooMed's site about UTH's. I can pickup non thermostat UTH's for pretty cheap. Zoomed says to put down a layer of Eco Carpet if using Aspen bedding to prevent possible burns. Do any of y'all use this setup? Non thermo's and Eco?
I personally do not use them, but were I work, we selkl a lot of them. Some people use a Rheostat and others do not, I haven't had any reports of snake being burnt from them. I'm sure it has happened. Snakes would burrow under the cage carpet as well as the bedding, so I don.t see how the cage carpet is going to make it safer.
Ok! Dumb question. I got the thermostat. Do I stick the probe under the tank between the glass and mat or in the bottom of the inside of the tank? If I run the cord inside I feel like I can secure the lid well or I'll crush the probe wire.
