too humid?

I have a 10 gallon plastic terrarium. the lid has ventilation, but not as much as you would see on a regular reptile screen. i put eco soil in it for substrate, but will this cause the humidity to rise too high? i plan on housing a baby scarlet king snake in it until Its big enough for my other 20 gal. if i have to go out and buy a regular glass terrarium, i will. thanks!

Hi holden. I would say put your kingsnake right in the 20 gallon. Give him a deep substrate and alot of cover. I have 5 paper towel holders in my 20 gallon for my young king right now- he loves them. The plastic top looks cracked. It's hard to tell from the picture but it may be something he can wiggle though. They are pretty shifty.

I went ahead and plopped my baby king in a 20 gallon. I have 4 hides and a plant available but unlike franks king, mine pretty much ignores them in order to hide in the substrate. He seems fine though--hides all the darn time but has been eating and stopped musking me about the third time I handled him. So, maybe just go ahead and put the baby in the 20!

Just prepare to play a rousing game of "where's the snake?" any time you need to find the bugger...

The "regular" screens generally do not hold enough humidity for most snake species. I'm not too familiar with the amount of humidity that a scarlet king needs but odds are if you don't mist too often that will work just fine.
