eyelash viper good first "hot"?
Hello i have been raised around and kept large boas and pythons all my life, and i have been taking care (cleaning, feeding, ect.) From the age of 14 i am now 21 and i Now have the permit to keep hots I Have done some Reading and Found i like that they stay small and are less prone to bite which is why i do not want something crazy like a mamba i found that you can keep them in a glass terr thats 18x18x24 with lots of limbs to climb on with a temp at about 80°f and hum at about 60-70 id just like to ask around for handling tips, if this is a good first hot or if i should go with something else, and just what its like to keep this beautiful snake

Re: eyelash viper good first "hot"?
Eye Lashes was one of my first HOTs. Pretty easy to care for, but be careful, they hide rather well behind plant and leaves and may tag you when you are trying to find them. A pair of long hemostats for feeding time is recommended. Also you will need a snake stick and at least a good pair of leather welding gloves or better yet a pair of venom defender gloves, which can be ordered out of the UK. Leather welding gloves should be ok for a small Eyer Lash Viper, but I would not trust them on larger venomous snakes. Also finding a mentor to train you is always recommended.

Re: eyelash viper good first "hot"?
I've heard eyelashes for first hots recommended alot. I got a white lipped pit viper for my first hot and couldn't be happier. The arboreal vipers tend to ride the snake stick pretty well but in my experience alot are very cage defensive. And what Jerry said about being carful because of the camo. I locate my white lip before I unlock her cage to make sure there are no I welcomed suppirses.

Shipping venomous is a pain. They have to be shipped Delta Dash , and picked up at the airport. It would be better to get them at an Expo.
