Coastal Carpet Problems :(

anything about this issue. I really appreciate
I have bought one Coastal Carpet Python from a keeper in my country for two days. He has raised that snake from hatching till now. His size is around 80cm. The keeper said :" It has eaten since 1 month ago after that It spent 2 weeks for shedding". Till the day i bought him, it avoided any food offer.
The snake condition living is good. He is very active and doesn't have any symptoms of sickness.
When everything settle down. I offered the food again ( mice) but the snake doesn't give attention about it. I try another way like live mice , pinky but everything is useless.
Saigon is cold this year , the temper is around 22 degrees. I have added one night bulb to raise the heat. What can i do now ?

Unless the temperatures are sufficient for him to digest his meal he probably won't eat. You need to have a thermostat controlled heat source and have a hot spot of approximately 32 deg C. Get your husbandry right and once it is running good for about a week then offer another f/t rat and he should take it.

his husbandry is NOT good, the temps he mentioned in his posts are way too low

re Carpet Python Temperatures

hot end temperatures = hot spot, basking spot of 88F to 90F

cool end temperatures = high 70's F to low 80's F

middle of the tank = ambient air temperatures of 84F to 86F

if it's too cold your snake will not eat,it needs a certain amount of heat to aid digestion

Re: Coastal Carpet Problems :(

His last meal since 15 december 2013 was a chicken ,that is all i know until now. However,Today , i try to increase heat by adding a heat bulb. But one more thing happens. The snake spend whole day in the water bowl.To make sure that is mite or not , i have checked but it does not have any mite in the water. So why does he spend whole day in that water bowl ?

Re: Coastal Carpet Problems :(

what temperature does your thermometer or temperature guage say it is now ?

it could now be too hot,and thats why he is in the water bowl trying to cool down

it could also be mites

but if it's only since you added the extra heat, that he has been going into his water bowl, then it's more likely to be due to the tank now being too hot

you need to get a thermostat and regulate your heat source
