Boa's Tooth Fell Out?

So, I got new bedding for my boa constrictor today. He was hanging out in his water dish because it's been dry and his humidity has been low (with any luck the new EcoEarth as well as the sphagnum moss will help with this), and I noticed something sticking up from his bottom lip. I thought it was a frayed scale from the dryness, but it was actually one of his teeth! This is a first for me, and I was wondering what could have caused this? He doesn't nose rub, unless it's a habit he's started recently, and I haven't seen his lip get stuck or anything.

Snakes shed their teeth, usually they come lose while eating and get swallowed though. You don't find them like this often, pretty cool!

Don't worry, it happens and is normal. They grow back.

Thanks guys! I just needed to be sure, because it's not every day I just find their teeth laying around. haha I figured it would grow back, but I was worried about it maybe irritating his mouth. I just didn't want to pry open his mouth after messing around in his enclosure.

Re: Boa's Tooth Fell Out?

The only worry is when sometimes the tooth gets embedded in the gum and causes swelling and an infection. That is why it was good you removed the tooth from the snakes mouth.

Well, it was haphazardly stuck to the outside of his lip by some saliva, but it's best not to chance these things. ;.; I haven't noticed any swelling, so I think all is well.

HAHA! That is awesome.. It's not that often that you can obtain a souvenir like that. Stick it under your pillow for the tooth fairy.

I've put it in a box and hopefully I'll find a tiny bag or something to put it in. :P
