i dont think so, but perhaps clarify what youre asking? most breeders are trying for high white right now, which is why you dont see as many dark kings (not including MBKs). beyond that, many of the wild conditions favor darker snakes; look at florida kings, desert cali kings etc; they are typically darker with small areas of white patterning.

I was asking if High Black Cali's are natural or if you achieve High Black by breeding 'X' and 'Y'.
This is the specific snakes i was asking about. Just curiois.

that looks like it has some newport in there, my albino male is actually very similar (except lavender in place of black). i dont know the specifics of breeding, but i think youd have to cross some morphs (i..e desert and newport) and then further select for darker individuals. i dont think its recessive/dominant in the way that we think of corn snake genetics, as you are dealing more with pattern (controlled by multiple factors, not just a single gene).
