Ball Python Escaped

Evie escaped from his bin either last night or this afternoon/evening ( I was staying at a friends last night so I'm not quite sure of the time frame). I have torn my room apart. My door was closed last night but not this afternoon/evening. Any Ideas?

I know my cat didn't get to him yet because I would know if my cat found him.

Try baiting an area of the house with a mouse/small rat, probably your room at best. You can sprinkle flour along a wall so you can see if he's slithering over in that area. Chances are you'll find him as long as he has no chance to get outside

Keep checking. A lot of lost snakes don't travel too far from the enclosure.

Also, find the reason it got out and fix it first.

Re: Ball Python Escaped

Just a few comments here. I find that its better to NOT tear the room apart in the beginning. You should just sit in the floor near his escape point, and look around for good hiding areas/possibilities near by. I Know panic ensues but usually the spot they are hiding in doesn't require much tearing apart of rooms. They are usually in dresser drawers, under beds or underneath furniture, wedged in between something and the wall, etc.

Also, how do you know your cat didn't get to him?

They don't like to be open the open so most likely it will travel with one side of its body against the wall, check all points along walls and heat sources.

Try putting grocery bags around were the cage is. If he comes out in the night you will hear the bag crumbling. Along the walls and in doorways are good places to put them.

Re: Ball Python Escaped

Aaron, it's the bin type that snaps down on both sides (with the latch things). One side was undone, my best guess is that my cat was tampering with it. I'll have to keep my cat out of my room. He's way too menacing!

I couldn't help but tear my room apart. I have reasons to believe that he did not leave my room. I'm definitely going to try the plastic bag method tonight! Thanks guys! I hope he turns up soon!

Re: Ball Python Escaped

Smy, I know my cat didn't get to him because my cat would be carrying him around. My cat is an attention ***** so he would have let me know if he found a new "toy" or made a kill.

My cat is the same if it kills a bird or mouse etc she brings it to me rather than eating it. My mum always said it was a cats way of saying thanks.

Good luck finding your ball.

Re: Ball Python Escaped

This is going to sound completely ridiculous but I had another escape today. I have no idea what is going on with my balls lately! I'm leaving for vacation for a week, tomorrow, so I'll have to put bricks or something to reinforce my bins! Luckily, I found Zara nearby tangled in some wires, but Evie is still yet to be found.

Re: Ball Python Escaped

UPDATE: I was just sitting on my floor packing for my trip and watching netflix and i felt something on my leg and it was Evie! I'm so relieved. All the snakes are in their enclosures, secured! I am so happy that he found me!

I guess Smy was right all along! I was sitting about 3 feet from where his bin is!
