Just got my python and hes already gone (escaped)
Please Give me Something more then ive been reading!
I just got my ball python a week ago and its been only a day but i cant look anymore bc my eyes are red and blury.
fridge, closets, vents (even though i have a tight house), clothes, everything.
I just put my A/C so its cold in my house and put his home (plastic tub) upside down with my little mice cage holding one end up and a heat pad under it and also a tiny heater blowing kind of in the tub.
Will he come out or will he stay in is little ball and freeze out?
Since he is new to his home and doesnt know where he eats yet will he come about? I just dont think he found his comfort area yet because he was quite active.
Thanks for reading and any replies

Ball pythons aren't endurance roamers, I would think he would be in the near proximity of his tank. If he hasn't ate in awhile put some frozen thawed mice around your house with flour around it, if one goes missing you will know where it is going

Hope you find him, in the meantime find out exactly how it escaped and ensure that when you find him he cant escape again.

Dont stress it too much. he may be wedged in somewhere you cant get to. Routinely check the high suspect areas, and be patient. Odds are you wont find him until hes ready to be found and shows up in your bathtub or something

Smy, true that. My "lost reptile" motto is that they show up on their own accord. Don't break your back looking, when he wants to, he'll show up. (: It's not like losing a dog or cat, reptiles can endure pretty much anything. However, if you have any sneaky cats (like me) you might want to watch out.

Re: Just got my python and hes already gone (escaped)
My old roommate and I had a pair and they were crazy escape artists. It was a sliding top and they had some sort of system down. I bet these guys escaped maybe 10 times. One time was when I passed out drunk and woke up the next morning and it was crawling up my neck. More often than not/almost every time I found them in my shoes. Have you checked there? Also inside the couch was also common. Just thought I'd throw those out there.

Re: Just got my python and hes already gone (escaped)
I've lost and found a few snakes in my life.
Ball python - gone for a few days, showed up in my underwear drawer(Which was closed so I don't even know how he got in..maybe through the back there was a hole?)
Desert Kingsnake - Gone for a few days also, showed up in my sister's closet in one of her bags while she was changing
Must have been others but these are the ones I remember the most. Honestly, there has never been a time where I lost a snake and haven't found it. They've always stayed in the house for some reason. What you could do is leave a mouse near it's enclosure in container with a small hole in it at night. See if anything happens. If it gets hungry it'll go looking for food.
Or another thing you could do is leave a live mouse in a container it can't get out of but your snake can get into( A hole on the top). If you hear a mouse squealing, it's probably your snake killing it.

Re: Just got my python and hes already gone (escaped)
~Nope nothing ive looked everywhere. I put two caged mice near his enclosure under his tub with a little heater blowing in it and tore my house from top to bottom. I'm going to put some plastic bags on the sides of the walls and shut down my house and sit and listen. if that doesnt work then ill put flour in the door ways to see what way he was heading with a little four trail he'll make. Thanks guys ``` ~

Don't think you're a terrible owner. Even the best's snakes get loose. Just know that whenever you find him, snakes are definitely escape artists and you should have proper locks to prevent that.

If I were you, I would start with the flour trail first, just to see if he's actually moving around. That's a pretty good idea.
