Re: Nature Photos... My area.
Beaver evidence, But I didn't see a single beaver to photograph.
An really old stone wall.
Approaching the lake, I had to hike a good half mile just to access the waterfront.
Once I got there, the views were worth it.
The total absence of other people was GREAT! Can you find the boat??
This beaver dam was on the outlet stream, I did notice the fenced in pasture.....

a few million years of water erosion.
This whole area was prehistoric sea, then the glaciers cut it all and receded.
That's why we have gas wells and salt mines.

it was a Paleozoic Era sea, the life was simple multi cell sea creatures.
The rich gas deposits are from huge deposits of algae and microscopic life that got buried and decomposed.
So no Dino fossils.
The massive salt vein runs from New York state all the way to Canada.
Finger Lakes, New York | Geology | Salt Mines and Brine Wells
when the water all evaporated, it left behind the salt.

Re: Nature Photos... My area.
I must say I am quite jealous. New York is a bit far, but if I'm ever out your way I would love to drop in and check it out. I can see now how its so easy for you to make shelters with the natural landscape to harbor the native helps in the area.
