Overfeeding ?

Hello, I just recently aquired a Ball Python. It's about a 14 inches or so, and I was wondering about its feeding habits.

The store that I got it from said they fed it mice, but I have no idea what size mice they fed it. To be on the safe side, I just picked up a bunch of baby pink frozen mice from Petco to feed it with. Every night, for the past 4 nights that I have had the Ball, I have taken it and fed it 1 baby pink mouse after dethawing it.

Is this normal? Should the snake eat 1 baby mouse a day, or is that too much? Also, are there any problems associated with just feeding the Ball baby mice or even just mice in general? Obviously people develop problems if they only eat one type of food for an extended duration, wouldn't that carry over for the snake? What else could I possibly feed it to vary its diet?

Sorry if these questions seem stupid, this is just my first snake so I'm a little green. :|

you shouldnt feed it everyday. Go out and get some frozen adult mice, or rat pups and feed it 1 of those every 5 days or so.

pinky mice are wayyyy to small for a ball python.

All you have to feed it is mice or rats. You do not need to vary its diet at all from mice or rats. Just try to keep it eating frozen thawed food. Dont feed live if you do not have to.

A baby ball python shouldn't eat more than every 5 - 7 days but it should eat a rodent (rats are best) that is somewhat bigger around than the thickest part of the snake. Pythons are designed to eat huge meals and digest them relatively slowly.

You haven't mentioned how you are keeping this snake but you will want to read up on basic husbandry and make sure your temperatures are right or soon your BP will not eat at all. There is a handy "sticky" thread at the top of this forum that is full of good info.

First stop for noob questions is the FAQ, I still refer to them and that way I can keep my stupid questions to a bare minimum

I'm surprised nobody suggested buying a book! Research should have been done before buying this thing, but too late now, so there's clearly no need to piss an moan about it now. Why does everyone do this a$$-backwards? GO OUT AND BUY A BOOK. RESEARCH!!!!
