Herproom revisited

We redid the herp room, doesn't give us any more space, just better access to the enclosures.

Shot of the left side of the room.

Shot of the cages you can't see from the door.

And a shot of the cages on the right side of the room.

Very nice. I see you have a lot of wire and papertowel everywhere like me. Baha. Thanks for letting us into your herp room.

Nope, using UTH (17X11) for heatrope lights aren't much for heat, temps are ~91 &92

So you just used one of the pet store ones? I'm trying to get some 4x2x1 to work(heating) but havn't got it right yet. Did you router out a space i the underside and just stick it on? If so how much are you taking off if any.

That's correct, we're using zoomed UTHs, the kind you get in the petstore. We routered out about 1/4", we're using 3/4" melamine.

For a bigger space then 4X2X1 you might want multiple heat pads as that's only about 60 gallons.

thanks for the help. I was trying to find a legal way to heat the melamine cage with a heat pad a never thought a UTH would work. Also did you use a special router bit to cut the melamine(my current but doesn't eem to work well).

dunno what kind of bit we used, it was kind of S shaped and sharp (sharp's the key word, we had a circle on the first one and it took forever because it was dull

The first shelf is made from scrap 2X4s and plywood. the 2 shelves in the back are store bought. Seeing how we're limited in space we have to stack. I've found another shelf system that looks great for 10G tanks, can't wait to try them.

Nice setup . Its nice to see someone with a decent amount of herps keeping them all in more than functional setups. How big is the room? One word of advice however, next time you post pics, maybe you should make sure the enclosures are clean... the last pic the one cage is trashed and one of the boas is taking a "poo bath", don't get me wrong, I know how messy they can be, but I'm sure you kow what I'm getting at
