transporting a fairly large snake?

I'm picking up an over 6' bull snake about 4hrs away and debating ideal transport. It might have to sit longer depending on timing of making other stops. Temps should be fine. Mid 30s to mid 50s at the most extreme and later in the evening we'd be driving back with the heat running even if it does get into the 30s at night. I have a plastic container probably around 18x24", maybe a little longer but definitely well short of 3' since I've got a 40g breeder lid temporarily covering a same size container so I know it doesn't make that, drilled across the top of the locking plastic lid that I usually stack my smaller containers in and heat packs with a temp probe lowered through one of the holes in the top to transport smaller reptiles and rodents safely. I have to put a new patch over a rodent chewed bottom corner and then I was thinking of just putting in some bedding to use as is. I'm not sure what yet though. I've heard to put bigger snakes in fabric but I doubt I have anything big enough. I figure if he has something with a little grip and the container doesn't move Iowa and Northern IL are pretty flat with straight roads.
