Feeling that itch again
I've been watching you guys and gals add all these gorgeous animals lately and now the wheels are turning in my head. Mama Bear already gave me the green light to treat myself so I don't have that hurdle to get over. Now the question is what to get. Of course carpets are always in the running. An albino, super caramel jag, or axanthic jag would be awesome. I'm also considering a boa, SD retic, Texas Indigo, or some other critter I don't currently keep. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Re: Feeling that itch again
I'm super excited about a pair of BRB that I will be getting from Living Gems after the holidays are over. Cliff has absolutely stunningly beautiful animals and he has two litters that he has not posted for sale yet. Just a thought...
Enjoy the search and please let us know whichever you decide on.

Re: Feeling that itch again
@ Andy- If it is a boa I'm 95% sure it'll be a sunglow. They're my favorite boa.
@ Jim- Congrats on the BRBs brother! You're right Cliff does produce some phenomenal animals. I had considered them but the precision temps and high humidity requirements concerned me a bit. I'm a big fan of simple husbandry .
@ Lewis - Congrats on the new Burm. I hope you'll post pics when it settles in. I love a lot of the retic morphs. Those paint jobs are unbelievable but those teeth give me pause . I never thought I'd keep such a large snake but the temptation is getting stronger.

Re: Feeling that itch again
You already know what I'm gonna pick Ziggy . We've kept, corns, boas, bulls, hognoses, rat snakes, burms, kings, carpets, and I've been lucky enough to help to look after many more. But I've never kept a snake that could come close to our retic, there's just something about her that's different. Just my 2 cents worth mate

Re: Feeling that itch again
SD retic EL for the win! I know that is a biggie for you. I want a hypo Burmese or Granite Burmese. Maybe i'll get lucky and find a Labyrinth Burm.

Re: Feeling that itch again
I vote SD retic if you buy from a reputable person you know what you'll be getting and won't be surprised ending up with Jenny equivalent (no offense Dave).

Re: Feeling that itch again
The struggle is real zig. I am a sucker for black snakes so my vote is for the indigo.

Re: Feeling that itch again
I say Indigo or SD Retic! Definitely be vigilant about finding a reputable breeder. I got lucky mine was local, but I still asked like a million questions! You should so the same if you gonthe retic rout. Also make sure to ask for the size and age of parents as that will give you a good idea of adult size of a baby. =)

Re: Feeling that itch again
I'll admit, the SD retic is at the top of the list. I LOVE carpets but I really think I want to try working with a new species. I've always loved retics but felt their size might be more than I was willing to deal with. After seeing Dave's, Tsubaki's, K-Star's, and others' critters I started researching the SDs. Mink making the leap kinda nudged me over the edge . I believe I'm ready for the challenge now. I still haven't decided on a morph but some of those tigers, plattys, and albinos make me drool .

Re: Feeling that itch again
^_^
I am hapy to take the blame.
My guy is suuuuuper chill to be honest. The store guys let me feed him last friday and he reminded me more of a lazy BP striking lol. My boa and carpet hit harder! And at hos age and size, I know he will be easy to handle so long as he doesn't go psycho lol. I expect some changes once he's home and not at the store though. I admit that I was REALLY wanting a purple albino. But this guy's personality totally stole my heart. Even the guys in the store (who are known for refusing sales of burms and retics to people they don't feel would be good) said that snake was meant for me lol.
So my experience has been overall fantastic, but I have heard other stories that aren't so great. If you were anyone else I could understand some people suggesting against it, but knowing you, I thonk you'd really enjoy an SD retic. =)

Re: Feeling that itch again
You know I love indigos, but I've always thought retics were awesome snakes. They're just too big for my taste. A true super drawf might temp me though.

Re: Feeling that itch again
My vote goes to a Texas Indigo. They are awesome snakes, can't wait to add one to my collection.

Re: Feeling that itch again
Scrub python or a black head python. Good size and easy on the eyes.
