Heat tape usage in Canada?

Hello, I live in Canada and at the CRBE back in September I purchased some PVC enclosures which I had planned on setting up with heat tape. I had heat tape wired for the enclosures and planned on setting them up over the winter break from school. I however still live with my parents and they were not confident in my wiring abilities which is fair because I have never wired anything before, I wouldn't want to be responsible for our house burning down. We eventually decided that if I could get an electrician to come in and wire some new strips of heat tape for me that he would be satisfied this however is proving to be a huge problem. I have since found out that heat tape is apparently not approved for usage in Canada and isn't really supposed to be sold and in turn installed here, or at least that's what I've been told. "Not CSA approved".

So, I am really at a loss here. Does anyone from Canada have any suggestions? I live in the GTA, specifically in the Durham region so if anyone that lives around this area knows of anyone who would be able to install heat tape for me or knows of any possible alternatives they could suggest it would be a huge help.

I can't see why heat tape would be 'illegal'. It seems many of the Canadian companies who sell snake racks have them wired with heat tape prior to selling them so it doesn't make sense to me that it'd be illegal for use in Canada. Perhaps I should just attempt to sell my PVC enclosures and purchase a small rack system instead.

Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated. Also I am sorry if this is the wrong place to put this thread, it was the only place I could think to put it.
