Hey all,
I have a 29G tall tank that is doing nothing. I want to make it a very nice vivarium, with plants and moss for substrate.. I also want herps in there. I'm looking for a lizard or lizards that can go in here that are a good size, nice to other herps, cheap, pretty, and nice to humans.. and not tokays... did i mention i don't want tokays? lol yea I 'm also posting this in the plant forum so lizard guys.. ignore the bottom half of this post
I want to make this really really nice, what kind of plants would fit in with my idea and what kind of moss? and where can i get all of this? :) thanks guys!!

anoles would be good...are you are first time lizard owner? or have you delved into this field before?
for the price of anoles you can get long tailed grass lizards, which i like sooo much more. they have a bunch of character and the most ridiculously long tails. super easy to care for too. but it depends what your looking for right. also for moss sphagnum moss is what i use.

truthfully, i wouldnt reccomend an anole or long tailed lizard, they are extremely skiddish and not many tame, i would get a leopard gecko, they are small, and nice, any fake plant, and fake trees are good.

Ummm... no offense snakeman87, but a leo in a 29 tall?
And am I right assuming you are wanting a jungle setup, Pythonian? If you have had some exp with herps (I assume with over 500 posts you have), anoles or LTGL would be great, unless you will have the cage door open lots to look after plants... Another herp you might want to try is house geckos in there, or maybe some day geckos, and remember, all herps I have mantioned are TERRIBLE for handling... never touch them unless needed!

Alright i ended up getting a golden gecko and it's beautiful!! i've had it for about a week or two and it isn't eating. I put in 4 crickets and it just chills there.. .Anybody know of a trick to get them to eat?

umm...how big to Golden Geckos get? just asking because i know that a leopard gecko wouldn't even be good in a 29T...it may not be eating because it isn't used to it's environment. also another reason is because there may not be enough heat or uva/uvb rays getting to it. do you leave the crickets in there over a period of time? if so, it may not eat because they are driving him CRAZY! at night they will come out and bite him, and that will make any lizard not want to eat. just a suggestion, but try baby food. stay away from the banana baby food if you can, because it gives off a lot of potasium, which could be bad for him. try apricot or peach or something. hope that helps...you may want to upgrade the size of your tank for him. he may just feel cramped. he could feel cramped as well if there is too much "activity" in the tank. as in...too much stuff.

its prob not eating because its still trying to get used to its surroundings...my uromastyx wasnt eating for about 2 weeks and now he's eating like crazy...99% of lizards just get really really stressed when they make a big move like getting put in a new home...give him some time..if he doesnt eat in like a week than it might be somthing more serious...
good luck though!
take it EZ
