I have been trying to decided what type of snake I want next. This will be my third snake. My first two are both ball pythons. This is what I have narrowed it down to:
-Kenyan Sand Boa
-Western Hognose
-Coastal Carpet Python
-Emerald Tree Boa
-Blood Python

(Yes for each of these snakes I have done the individual research for each snake. :D)

I would like some help in the decision! So please tell me which one would be the best to get and why. Thanks! :D

what are you looking for in your next snake? A wonderful, beautiful display animal? An impressive snake to handle and show your friends? something with cool behaviors, or something with a stunning pattern?
I guess i'm wondering how you narrowed your choices down to the ones above? What are your financial and spatial limits?

A snake that you can handle, but also has awesome patterns and behaviors. As for the financial all those listed are pretty much in my price range, and I have a lot of room so no worries there.

honestly of those you listed, i would go with the carpet or the KSB... both are reliably handleable, stunning, and interesting behaviorally.

I might go with a carpet. I want to go bigger than a Ball Python. Carpet might be the choice! Thank you, and everyone that replied! :D

100% Coastal carpet python. Big enough to be impressive, not big enough to be overwhelming, they won't eat you out of house and home, can be housed reasonably, plus most tend to be very handleable! There are the occasional carpets that may act nippy until they grow older, but still, their temperaments are not bad at all. Join team Morelia. :)

I'd say carpet python or hognose. Hognose's are awesome critters with great personality and are pretty in a natural sort of way. I think they're awesome. Carpets are gorgeous as well. The last two are a bit more work as far as handling goes. Blood pythons are very strong and can give a decent bite. Not to suggest you shouldn't own one for that reason... they're beautiful and can tame right down with work.... just have to be prepared for the work involved as well as all the bites you might take to get them there.

Having never had one I vote for the emerald tree boa...

If this is your criteria how did a blood python and etb make the list?

Well I know that Blood Pythons can be tamed down and can be tamed down but they also are beautiful snakes! And of course then you could handle it. :p As for the ETB they are gorgeous animals that are for display and I wouldn't mind having that. :D

Jumping to a blood or a ATB is a huge jump, both in experience and housing requirements.
I would not recommend them till you have moved up the chain

Bloods can be amazing animals to work with. The keys to Bloods is from the time they are babies you need to handle them regularly. At least once or twice a week to get them use to it and to keep them use to it. You also have to learn how to read them and never back down or hesitate. You have to be confident when handling them. If you want to know more about bloods or some really good breeders PM me and i can hook you up.

I was saying houseing requirments in comparison to a ball python which is what he has now. Moving to a blood or ATB is quite a jump in care and attitude

I would go carpet.

In general, they are handeable. Being aggressive and stressed out from handling is not one of their stereotypes. Also they just look damn cool. Every one of them.

Don't get a blood or an emerald tree boa if you've only worked with balls. Not yet. Get a carpet / childrens / BCC / BCI / or the Kenyan.
