Hi there.

I've been keeping snakes for about 7 years now I guess and am a complete addict. :) I love all reptiles buy my passion lies with snakes of varying types. My first snake was a Mexican Black King and as such they remain one of my favourites to this day. I'm active on the reptile forums of Alberta, Canada but haven't done a lot of posting on more general forums and so I thought I would start. I am the treasurer of The Alberta Reptile and Amphibian Society and have a small company called Next Morph Reptiles. I love meeting new people who are in the hobby and sharing and learning new information.

I look forward to being a part of the community!

Thanks,
Mandie

Cool, what's bringing you to Alberta? And where?
Hope all of the pets you have will be allowed here as there are some differences!
Also, not rat breeding. :( :P

im planning on moving to Calgary with any luck, im coming to do some pressure pipe welding at a refinery, but I need to get my B pressure ticket when I arrive so ill have to find work after I arrive. the pets make it so I cant work in camps, but here in BC there is nothing for welder and what there is, is just a huge rip off with never any benefits. I don't breed my own rats anyways, so looks like ill be shipping them all in :P that's going to suck to say the least lol

Oh you don't have to ship in rats yourself.. you can still buy frozen rats here from people who buy in HUGE amounts.

It's just not as cheap as breeding them yourself, that's for sure.

What all do you keep, if you don't mind my asking?

I have a pair of diamond pythons, pair of triple het for moonglow boas, granite carpet male and het female, pied male ball python, unfortunately 2 male womas I thought were a pair, jag albino carpet male and 3 female 50% het albino and I have a jag 66% het albino male I got in the package before I decided to get the actual jag albino for the breeding group. a pair hypo trans leather beardies and 1 normal female thrown into my order when I shipped them over from the states, a poecilotheria fasciata tarantula and a scolopendra gigantea centipede. phew that's looks like a lot lol oh and my mini pincher dog and my F6 Bengal leopard cat.

to be honest I actually have them on kijiji for $300 each :P i spoke with the breeder about the mishap and i might end up getting a good deal on a female adult when i get to alberta, i didn't probe them for 2 years after getting them unfortunately or im sure i would have been given one for free, so i might keep one of the males, but still not sure, kinda want to just focus on what i have.

Hmm... yes.. I'd be a bit choked at that mistake.

Did you know that you can't keep retics in Alberta? Not even dwarf retics?

Just see you're interested in them and thought you might like to know that if you plan on moving here. Haha.

Welcome Mandie, good to have you here. I'm an Albertan, though living down in the States now. I'm from Rocky Mtn House.

Have any of you been down to Reptile World lately? How is the place doing?

Hi jarich! :) Reptile World is still alive and well. :) Where in the states are you living? What brought you there?

Thanks for the welcome!!

Down in New York. Growing up in a town of 5000 people, in the middle of nowhere, seems to have given me a wandering spirit.

Glad to hear Reptile World is still going strong. That alligator they had there was awesome, even if they did let it get too fat in that small enclosure. I hear they did some renovations in the last decade though and it has a much bigger area now, along with some of the others. Used to love going there almost more than the museum, which is saying something for a paleoanthropologist.

Welcome and oh, MBKs rule. :)

Yes, they certainly do. An MBK was actually my first ever snake. They tend to have stuck as a favourite for me. <3

I traded it for the albino jag carpet, with a few other snakes I had.
