Hi guys,

I noticed this for a while now but never remember to post this. But here's a picture of the left eye of my sav, it's not the same as the other eye, nor the same as other sav's eyes.. there's a little dip on the bottom of the eyeball.. I really hope he won't get eye problems later on. Any seens this before?

I've seen something like that in a coopers hawk once; the bird had a detached retina due to being hit by a car... I would suspect a genetic/congenital defect though. Does it seem like he can still see movement/detect prey with that side of his face?

It doesnt look like a traumatic eye injury, it doesnt looks like it will get worse/cause problems/change in the future.

thx. I think I noticed he had that even at 7 inches.. Now he is about 10 inches(never measureed him) He did get tail whipped in the face by his cage mate once that I saw when he was bullying his cage mate, but that was when he was 7 inches so pretty small, probably can't be a powerful enough whip to cause eye problem(I could be wrong)

But yes he seems to function fine with that eye.. just not sure what would happen later... hopefully you are right!

Looks like just a little genetic quirk, definitely not an injury. In any case there isn't anything you could do about it and it doesn't sound like it's causing any problems. The pupil doesn't need to be circular to see right, just look at cuttlefish eyes..
