View Full Version : New Phantom Female
Here is our newest acquisition from the weekend!
She is a late 2010 Phantom Female. She currently weighs 1,100 grams and is around 3.4-4 feet long. Such a sweetie too :)
Her markings are slightly different to a normal and her colours are very rich. And who can resist that crazy back pattern!
We hope to breed her this fall or the following year and make some Purple Passions! :D
Anyways, here she is! Nameless for now....

If you don't mind me asking. Who let a big phantom girl go? You can PM if you like.
She's a looker.
I recommend the name "PhantomGirl" or 'PG" for short.
PM Sent!
And thank-you! She's a good girl :)
Haha I will run them by the boyfriend :P

I love her eyes- not sure if it's just the lighting but they're very similar to my female normal's (gold on the top, then fades darker on the bottom)

Not so big on the BP's (no offense I just don't like the body proportion I guess haha) but what is special about phantoms? I know what the purple passion looks like, how many genes do phantoms carry? Are any of them supposed to be visual because it looks like a normal to me ;S

It carries one gene.
They do look like normals or very similar to them. A lot of ball morphs look like normals. It's how morphs are discovered in all species, more prevalent in balls though.

really, its only one gene? I just googled it and it said it can produce some sort of leucistic , a purple passion, and a super phantom. Thats all from one gene?
Can someone with a trained eye tell that its a phantom?

As babies it's more defined. As adults they are more normal-ish. Shove a normal for comparison and it wouldn't be obvious to most.
Lots of single gene ball pythons combined with other single genes can make various "paint jobs."
The yellowbelly for example when combined with itself makes an ivory (all white with a yellow stripe down the back), a spark it makes a puma, a spector it makes a superstripe and a gravel it makes a highway.
The spector, gravel, spark and yellowbelly all look pretty normal to most people. The yellowbelly is the least like a normal though.

Thanks! They were one of the first features that I noticed when we first saw her. And yes! She has a gold-orange at the top of her eye and then it gradients down :)
