May Photo Contest

The photo contest theme, as decided by the March winner Terranaut, is "Reptiles & Musical Instruments" - picture of your on or near a musical instrument. If you do not own a musical instrument, you may use a photograph of one as a background.

The rules are as follows:

1) Each participant is allowed only one entry. Photos submitted by anyone must be taken by you and not be a picture from the internet.

2) Pictures must be related to Herps only and must be within the theme set by last month's winner in order to be eligible.

3) The winner may choose the theme for the next contest, but may not participate in it.

4) It is understood that the winner gives his or her permission for their winning entry to be posted on the portal page, and/or otherwise used by ssnakess.com with credit being given to the photographer.

5) No photoshopping. Minor edits are OK, but the photo must be as close to the original as possible.

The winner will be chosen by a poll conducted on the forum.

You have 2 weeks to submit a photo. The deadline to submit is Sunday, May 19th, at midnight eastern standard US time. After that we will vote.

This is my little baby Queen Bee, Charlotte, on my guitar.

I just put her on the scale and she is a whopping 121g.... Eating like a champ and growing like a weed.

She has zero head shyness, a very relaxed temperament and has just shed nicely yesterday.


Just before she strikes food, just after she gets in her little "S" and elevates slightly she gets so excited she shakes a little. Kinda funny!

Holy cow....I won. (Sorry guys I've been super busy lately)

As I understand: when someone wins they need to pick the next months subject. So how about....

The subject animal with a piece of equipment used in your favorite hobby.(non-herp)

For example: I'm an endurance cyclist so it would be a potion wrapped around one of the race bikes. If you love to fish then perhaps a smiling gecko peeking through the eyelet of your favorite rod. Say you are an NHL nut, but you don't have skates: no worries just submit a pic with the animal and your fav piece of team memorabilia. A runner? Put the animal next to your most "loved" training shoes. Be inventive. (Ok ready....go!)
