I got a new adult corn today. He's been sexed and is male. My first corn.
He is super healthy but his tail looks weird. At the vent he just stops bing "plump" and their is his small tail that looks like it doesn't match his body? Is this normal?

Maybe he just needs to use the bathroom.

It looks slightly swollen but tough to say if it's just the pic to me.

Most likely, it needs to poop. It also could be overweight as corns will get "hips" similar to that if overfed.

Definitely looks bloated. Try soaking him in warm water.

I didn't see the full snake pic, wasn't showing. In the full snake picture it looks a bit funny. Aaron, hips would be an understatement. Those are thunder thighs.

How did you get it sexed? If its female it may be egg bouned.

Your not going to update us if it was just a well needed bathroom break or swollen?

Had him a month now and no change
He eats like a big and when I touch the tail he does not appear in any pain

has he pooped at all?
Snakes very rarely show pain >>> absence of evidence is not the same as evidence of absence.

He has pooped twice, last one was huge as he had eaten 2 adult mice

i imagine most of my snakes would strike at me if i poked their face, it doesnt mean they are in pain :P In your case, that is probably what it was though.

To the OP, can you post a picture of the snakes underbelly as well, near the tail?

Maybe his tail just doesn't want to grow, or got stunted... or some genealogical defect? Idk but it does look awesome o: (in a weird way)

That makes sense, he is healthy, eats like a champ. So I'm not worried. He is a keeper for ever

What do you feed him, and how often? To me, he looks obese.

One adult mouse a week
He can eat like 2 though... He is a garbage can

I would say that is too much food, mine gets either an adult mouse or an equivalent sized rat every 14-21 days, when i got it he was fat but now he looks much sleeker and healthier.

That is just an overweight corn, has been fed too much too often, and not got enough excersize which has caused him to develop the fatty deposits at the vent, classic example of power feeding. Your best bet is to get him on a diet, feeding every 2 to 3 weeks and letting him swim to burn up excess fats, as if he is showing as that fat on the outside, internally he will be showing effects aswell, and is at risk of fatty liver disease.

classic example of power feeding..

Definitely :p someone that my mom's friend knew tried power feeding and they just ended up with an obese snake with a tiny head.

Good luck with the diet OP :D

That sounds like it'd be funny to look at! Kind of like a human with a big body and tiny head xD

You'll probably never be able to lose all the hips and will always show signs of it, but atleast with healthier feeding schedule and more excersize can reduce risk of damage to internal organs and get him more in shape.

Yea often happens with big bodies and small heads where they have been forced to grow too quick, and the body stops and the tail thins right down like in this case, can be very damaging to the over all life span of the snake which is a shame.
