Soooo last night I got home and it's feeding day for my MBK. I got him about a month ago from the SPCA.

Full story here.

He was abused and in nasty shape. I have him all fixed up now and he is NORMALY pretty relaxed now.

Normaly he is a very passive happy go lucky snake. But last night when I got him out to feed him he started hissing ALOT non stop, mouth open the whole bit.

He did eat his rat after a couple tries and combed down a bit after that.

I'm pretty sure this is because he is about to shed. I didnt notice any peeling on his head or body anywhere, nor did I notice any blue in his eyes, his skin however is not glossy but getting almost flat color.

Am I correct in assuming this ?

Our MBK goes from a very high-gloss black to dull black when shedding, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's the issue. Unlike our picky BP's she has never refused a meal whether shedding, not shedding, live, f/t, rat, mouse, or my finger after I picked crabs for dinner. If she thinks it's food she eats it.

Given your snake's history I'm not surprised he's defensive. Just bump up his humidity and leave him alone to digest.

That was pretty much my thoughts, I'll through a moss box and or hide in tonight.
