Glad he ate but you definately want some much bigger prey than mice. My guy pounds a rat about three-four times his girth up until about eighteen months old and now eats rats that are 165g in weight.

Hi Rob
I was watching Snakebytes and they say after a long period ( winter ) to feed a small meal first after shed. This is the first time i`v given her the jumbo mice (48g), hope she doesn't take a liking to them and refuse the rats.
I think i may have over fed her previously and with the winter combined this was her first in 8 month... i`v offered 1 every month but she just refused. She`s really healthy looking so i wasn't worried about her fasting.
Her normal rats come as 180/200 grams and her shed measures 80inches so she`s still growing.
She ate her first rat last night, not her normal self though.
Normally she would strike after a few seconds but this time she just had a hover about the rat then left it. I placed the rat on a branch and when i went back it was gone :)
Any you guy`s know why she`s not done her usual strike... not worried about it just curios.
thanks

She probably just wasn't as hungry as you gave her 2 mice not long ago, feed again in ten days pretty sure she will strike again.

The mice were her first munch in 8 Month so i though she would be ravished but apparently not.
Cheers mate :)

When I don't eat for a long time, I'm really hungry but can't eat as much as normal because your stomach shrinks. And since snakes are basically the same as humans, thats what happened. [I'm just making that up, don't yell at me guys]

Beautiful snake. Lankybob is right (as usual) about the size of prey. It is helpful to have a digital scale. I picked one up some months ago and it adds quite a bit of data to the snake logs. I tend to like that sort of thing. You can track growth of animals(especially youngsters), and know exactly how much rodent you are feeding your snake in comparison to their own body weight.

Thank`s for the reply Theweinz :)
