K so i bought my first snake a couple weeks back. And hes shedding for the first time now. I saw it coming since last weds. His eyes were just starting to cloud up a tinge and colors were slighty fadded. Now for the last 4 days he has been hiding in back by the water dish and his eyes are pitch white and skins is very very dull. He looks very sickly but i imagine during mid shed that is a common worry? He is in a tank with a screen top that i put waterproof aluminum tape over a good portion of the top. Humidity is 70% and will stay around that pretty easy. Only need to mist a couple times a week to keep it at that.

He is around 2' long and has eaten 3/3 times for me. Last was weds the day i started to see him fade in color.

Heres a pick i took yesterday when he moved his head out of cover. Does it look okay? How long should this take?

Once he goes back to looking "normal" he will shed within a couole of days, if it all comes off in one piece then it is all good!

Everything is normal. Like said above wait a few days after the eyes go clear. Just be patient. Some snakes take longer than others.

If your husbandry is correct then you don't have to worry. Snakes have been doing this on their own for a heck of a lot longer than they have been in captivity.

Thanks guys! His eyes are almost back to normal and he looks alot better. I was just uneware that the color actaully comes back before the shed. I guess i thought it came back after the skins was shedded. I was just told it only takes a week so i was starting to wonder what the hold up was.
