so i have a variable king snake and im pretty sure he has a RI right now but i cant really affford a vet visit right now. Im trying the vaporub and eucalyptis oil method i found right now and raised temperature right now. I cleaned out his tank and got rid of the aspen and he is currently on heavy duty paper towels right now. the thing i dont get is that he is still active but has that annoying clicking noise whenever he moves but not when he is still/sleeping. does anyone have any other suggestions for me to try? i currently have a 50w basking light, should i switch to a 75w basking light to help raise the temperature?
here is the basic info
40 gallon long
40-60% humidity
and before this becomes take him to a vet, yes i know this but i cant afford it right now, so if that's all you have to say, please don't say anything at all. thank you
Give it to some one who can take it to the vet. Cut your losses.
The Vicks treatment is a great temporary treatment but not really a cure.
The vet is the solution there isn't much else we can tell you.
As much as you'd love for us to pull out our magic wands and zap your snake well though the interwebs i don't see it happening.

Not many people can ever "really" afford a vet visit. But we make it happen when it needs to. Part of making the commitment to care for an animal. If you actually **can't** (not just don't particularly want to,) and you have nowhere else that you can make sacrifices financially, then you don't have the means or a reason to keep an animal. At that point it needs to go to someone who can provide for it properly.
In the future, consider putting aside funds for potential emergencies and vet visits.

You didn't give basking temps, or surface temps for the enclosure....
But yea, I agree with those above me. You don't want to hear it, but you know that was the answer you were going to receive...What happens if all viable options don't work, the only option for him is a vet? You will just let him die? ....Give him to someone else.

Nothing beats the VET and antibiotics, but if you REALLY caint get him there. . .
Raise its all around temp by 5deg and keep it there for a week, also get his humidity down below 30% and keep it there for a week as well to dry up the mucus. Also, watch the video below from BHB.
