I need a thermostat to run a few small exoterras at constant temps. What does everyone use and can anyone in the U.S. PM me a good site to order from? Need to buy one today, something 150 and under would nice ....

Is the hydrofarm 30 dollar one any good to run a ceramic heater 60 watts for one tank?

I have a few Hydrafarms. Work great but they do have a 5 degree spread between off/hot and on/cold . They also click loud when switching on/off. Other than that they are great for the $

what do you mean by 5 degree spread? innaccurate to 5 degrees or they allow it to drop below/above desired temps temporarily while adjusting ?

I also have a couple Hydrofarm stats and they work fine. They do make a little clicking sound when they shut off and the set temp usually fluctuates up or down a few degrees throughout the day. I have a few strips attached to one thermostat so I figure that is why but I find it to be pretty steady once it has reached the desired temp.

I've got 3 and never had a problem out of them. As far a fluctuating goes, all mine are on heat tape and the probe is right there so I don't imagine there is as much fluctuation on the ambient. Mine are on roach bins.

They fluctuate. The on/cold value is below your setpoint and the iff/hot value is above it. Example: you set it at 90º . It might drop to 87º before it turns the heat on then heat up to 92-93º before turning off. IMHO nature is similar and although some would argue constant is better I feel this is more natural like and not a bad thing about Hydrafarms. I would not use one on an incubator. Considering the price and again IMHO I think people spend an extra $100 to get a "better" thermostat that actually is less natural anyway. Ever been outside on a cloudy/sunny day? The natural temp is all over the place. This change is part of natural thermoregulation.

Mine doesn't make an obvious click either unless you happen to be paying attention :p

You get accustomed to it until it becomes background noise, then you don't really hear it unless you choose to. Kinda like when my kids ask me for money.

My gaming PC sounds like a jet engine. And I have younger siblings so....not worried about a little clicking. Is it one unit for one cage?

Yes. One unit has one outlet and 1 probe.

That's all I use and I love them. The clicking sounds are comforting to me because it lets me know they're working lol

That's the way I do it, 1:1. In fact I have the same set up, my gaming box sits just over my left shoulder, in between me and the tubs.
