Since I have rescued "Mikey" our WLP, I had a never ending battle with mites, and I guess only thought I had won the battle. I treated him for a month using newspaper as bedding, which I can say was a battle just trying to keep the humidity where I needed it. Yesterday I saw one crawling on him, and where there is one I know there are more. So I have emptied his enclosure again, began cleaning all furnishing in a bleach mix solution, and treated him with Mite Off. I just hope that I might have just missed one egg :\ and nipped it in the but early to be a quick and easy battle this time.
Any advice or tips and tricks y'all have learned from past experience would be greatly appreciated.

Nix or Prevent a Mite. These are the only 2 things that work. Google both or search this forum. Many many threads on how to use either. Pick oneand use it = mites gone . What you have done so far is never going to work.

The Zoo Med mite off literally does nothing, as Terranaut said you need nix or prevent a mite.

I have located the PAM online for 20.00, but have yet to find the nix, any links to it from the lowest priced provider would be greatly appreciated

Thank you everyone. I found an old post from rectiguy explaining the use and mixture of the NIX. I will be getting a bottle today to treat his enclosure with

Reptile Relief on the snake, PAM in the enclosure/substrate/hides (never the snake!), use as directed. BTDT.
Unfortunately some of ours only eat live, I think we're bringing the little bloodsuckers home on the rodents or our clothes when we go to the pet shop. We're going to work on getting everything transitioned to f/t.

@BCR - I have actually concluded that is what's problem is. Mikey is the only snake in my collection that I am having to feed to live from the pet store. I currently have some hoppers that I waiting to be large enough to Begon feeding, and another liter behind them. I am hoping going from store bought feeders to self raised feeders will help with te issue

The problem is most likely that you didn't get rid of them in the first place. Take the advice from earlier in the thread and use some pam or nix.

Reptile mites and mammalian mites are 2 different animals... One will not attack the other.

Surely if a mite can hitch a ride on your clothes it could also hitch a ride on rat or mouse?
Were do they actually come from they are not born with them just like dogs are not born with fleas.

Yes, but its a long shot at best, I wouldn't dismiss the possibility, but I'd definitely have money on a more likely cause.

I would put the whole farm on this. ↓↓

I would also take it further and say I guarantee you didn't get them all. I go to my local pet store often and I just won't touch the snakes anymore. I have stopped getting random mite infestations. My kids do hold the rodents though.

This.... I've never gotten mites in my main collection and I REGULARLY receive import shipments that are loaded with mites... Learn to quarantine and treat them and you don't even need to worry about it...

One thing is for sure I don't ever want mites.
I get the whole thing about how they get mites but they didn't just appears on snakes that are not born with them.
Do they come from trees, plants, land, sea, river, lake the moon?

Mikey has been in a seperated room from the rest of my collection for quarantine reasons. I do not doubt that I missed one or eggs that hatched after, but I have now treated the enclosure with NIX and will most likely take a precautionary measure and treat my other enclosures just to safe. I do appreciate all the help and advice given today

PROVENT A MITE.....
has always worked first time, everytime for me
it remains active for 30 days,so its good for preparing quarantine tanks for new arrivals
its easy to use...
put snakes and water bowls in a different room
take out and spray all tank contents
spray tank
leave for 2 hours to let the fumes dissapate
wash water bowls with hot soapy water
then return tank contents, water bowl and snake back into the tank
job done,mites dead
DO NOT SPRAY THE SNAKE OR WATER BOWLS
PUT SNAKE AND WATER BOWLS INTO A DIFFERENT ROOM,FROM THE ROOM YOU TREAT THE TANKS IN
cheers shaun

It's literally a man made problem.
Sure mites can be in the wild but snakes can shed their skin and leave them behind whereas in an enclosed space they are stuck with them so it's compounded.
I highly doubt mites come in off all the rats/mice people are feeding live with. Unless they are rodent mites (they won't bother eating your snakes). The likelihood of snake mites traveling and then hopping on rodents (which are constantly being used and more brought in for feeders) and then bringing home probably talks more to having an issue at home that hasn't been properly taken care of.
To have consistent mites come in on feeder rodents then it would have to be quite the infestation upon the countertop, the boxes the rodents travel in or in the colony itself. Highly unlikely they are snake mites if it's the latter.
