Loud noise kill monitors

Hi all,

I'm really close to start my new enclosure. But I have been struggling with a problem.

In order to build the 8x4x4 tank, I need to saw off some built in shelves that are attached to my house walls. Those shelves are right next to my current monitor tank. So I have 2 options.

1.) Saw it
2.) Move my monitors somewhere else in a bucket or something, then saw it

The problem I'm facing with Option #1 is that I don't know if the monitors will get freaked out by the wood sawing noises(jig saw or chain saw against wood) and die or get sick

The problem with Option #2 is that they will have to be moved to a bucket, then back to the current cage, then when finally my new cage is in place, moved again, which can also cause stress.

So which option would be better?

Just a thought, they are inside a sealed enclosure, and if they hear noise they will prob go down into a burrow, I don't think they will hear as much as you think they will. I'd say keep them in the enclosure, either way they are gonna be stressed (bucket isn't a monitors idea of a good time) but atleast in the enclosure he knows where he can retreat too and have proper temps/humidity at the same time.

Someone else will prob give a better answer, thats just my 2 cents.

Hi, my guess is they will either ignore the noise or deliberately come out in order to see what it is. I would definitely NOT put them in a bucket!

So the extremely loud electric sawing noises would be a better choise? Please note that my current enclosure only has 6 inches of soil/sand so I don't know if that would be that great for sound insulation, and the cage itself also doesn't have much sound insulation cuzz the walls are rather thin... so you all still think to keep them in the current tank while sawing is the right choice?

Hi again, the monitors will either hide or "investigate" the noise, either way they will not come to too much harm. An elctric jigsaw is hardly deafening!

Definitely leave them in the enclosure. Getting them out will be much more stressful on them than a loud noise that lasts just a few minutes. A jigsaw is not really that loud, especially when you are talking through the enclosure wall, soil, etc.

Is there not an easier way to detach them though? Arent there screws to remove more simply?

My bet come out see whats going on... Then ignore that noise as its not a threat Neolithic does it lead to food.

well not sure if it's a few minutes.. maybe 15 minutes? they are not screwable, must be sawed, or circular saw even. OK I'll leave them in there. thx guys... before I posted I was certain I should take them out.. but was uneasy with that.

Do you have a picture of the shelves? Not trying to be argumentative, but there may be an easier way to get them off the wall. Both a circular saw and and jigsaw are going to make the cut out away from the wall, so it still wont be flush.

My Ornate monitor enclosure is right next to our central vacuum unit.

The noise doesn't bother him at all.

As well, on the other side of the room is my bedroom with a home theatre which has an 1800w subwoofer. He doesn't freak at all.

I built my whole enclosure in my living room where all my reptiles were, with all my saws going and banging none of them had any problems that i saw and all are perfectly fine still, i doubt you will have any issues, as for the person with the subs right by the cage, i probably wouldn't do that anyway just because you dont really know if they like the noise or not so i try not to keep a lot of banging around the enclosure for long periods of time. i would imagine they want their quiet just like any human would like to have too.. but thats just my opinion.
