Hi everyone! My garter snake, Sasquatch, keeps trying to escape from her cage, and although she has never been successful, it still scares me! There is like some sort of rim between the cage and the screen lid, and she stretches up, crawls in there, and eventually falls back down into her cage, or does it by choice, after noticing she can't go anywhere else.
Should I be concerned or is this fine?
(First time snake owner.... I get a little paranoid)

it doesnt look like you have any kind of tank clips on there? I've used several of the following:
Amazon.com: tank clips (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=tank+clips)
Garters are very small however, and all snakes are great escape artists. They can squeeze through very very tight spaces, and have nothing to do all day but think of ways to escape ;)
I would get some tank clips, and make sure there arent any holes/cracks between the lid and the tank she could get out through.

All snakes try to escape all the time. They eat, sleep, poop, make babysnakes and try to escape. Thats very normal.

Thanks for the feedback! The only problem is that the last couple of times she's gone up there she has gotten herself stuck :/
Both of our King snakes and our Milk snake have done that. Our high white california king practically lived up on that lip for a long time in his tank. Clip that top and don't worry about it. They're really not stuck, they can get down when they want.

Both of my corn snakes use to set up in the lip of the tank, their safe place I guess, but was only a short period as when they grow the places to hide must get bigger as well ;) no worries just put some clips on, one each corner of your really worried and call it good

Thank all of you for the feedback!
Now that I know that it's normal for snakes to hang out up there,
I feel a little more comfortable with her doing so, now :)

I also use clips, but I'd recommend putting something on top of it too. Like I put some model cars on the sides, to add some more weight, it's probably not necessary, but it makes me feel better.

Hi, just got my garter snake a hold fish and it looks way to big. She is biting it's head, and she's been trying to fit her mouth around it for about 10 minutes. Is the fish too big and is she going to choke if she tries to eat it?
