Had some leftover watermelon this morning, so I gave it to the tortoises. Here's Lobo and Lola enjoying a slice or two.

And here is the revised juvenile outdoor pen for Toby and Moby. I scrapped the turtle pond idea, and this seemed a good alternative for the work already done.

Very nice, just curious what function does the glass over half serve?

I would imagine there is more heat at that point green house affect if you like.

I bet they enjoyed the watermelon.
How old are they?

lol...you're the second person who has thought that is glass. That is actually a used screen-mesh door, which blocks out some sun and provides some extra shade on that side of the enclosure. Definitely not glass. :D

The juveniles are approximately 3-4 years old, I did not get them as hatchlings.

The female eating the watermelon is about 5 yrs old (so I was told), and the large male is about 7-8, perhaps more.

I don't think that works for green house does it? Wouldn't the heat just find its way to the other half and rise out anyways?

So I was the 3rd person who also thought that was glass so I imagined wrong :)

I was wrong anyhow but I bet if it was glass it would be warmer under the glass side. But it's not glass.
