Normally they sleep at day and is a better time to handle them, once they are on your hand, they don't normally bite because they tread your hand as a perch, snake don't bite their perch.

Best thing is not too, but if you must then use a removable perch, that way you take the whole perch out of the viv and wait for the snake to move onto you.

Aren't certain locales more tolerant as well? Biak vs aru for example?

Nope..it is not always the case, I name my female Aru " Blade" for some reason:D
